Vintage VSL Val St-Lambert Pink Crystal Swirl Bowl
Val Saint Lambert is a Belgian crystal glassware manufacturer, founded in 1826 and based in Seraing. It is the official glassware supplier to King Albert II. All types of table glassware and decorative glassware have been made with pieces often decorated with glass cut to clear designs. Each product is unique, mouth blown and hand cut and finished. The pure Val Saint Lambert crystal is known as one of the clearest in the world. Glass blowing is one of the oldest techniques in glass art, handed down at Val Saint Lambert from father to son, and from son to grandson.

This thick crystal square dish is molded with flower motif and signed R. Lalique on the side.

Rene Lalique, born 1860, in Ay in Champagne is a master designer of glass and jewelry. His work marks the Art Nouveau and Art Deco periods with its iconic design.
R. Lalique began as an apprentice in 1876 with the jeweler Aucoc. After studying at the School of Decorative Arts in Paris, living in England for two years, he became a supplier to the greatest jewelers like Jack, Boucheron, Cartier, Garrod and more.
In 1885, he launched his jewelry career. However, glass was attracting his attention for years. He met perfumer Francois Coty and started creating perfume bottles for specific perfumes and designed the container to have a symbolic link with the content.
R. Lalique distinguished himself in an eclectic fashion. He contributed to the Exhibition of Modern Decorative and Industrial Arts of 1925 with the fountain Les sources de France which showed his acumen for architectural matters. And in the 20s, he made radiator caps for cars.
A gifted artist and brilliant industrialist, R. Lalique knew how to develop his business in his day. He passed on May 1, 1945 and left behind a world of art masterpieces that are still world-renowned.
